TAF is pleased to announce “Mokhtabar Film Series”, a new experimental year-round film screening.
The world renowned writer, Naguib Mahfouz made the conscious decision of never traveling outside of Egypt. His novels, however, surpassed the limitation of borders and languages. Mahfouz immersed himself in the Egyptian culture and created a rich and indulging world for his readers.
Our awareness of a surrounding environment, context or space, impacts our idea of identity as individuals, which we translate into materiality. Living within the parameters of a built environment over a stretch of time, we start to observe details and nuances that may have never otherwise caught our attention. As part of The Toronto Arab Film (TAF) Mokhtabar program, we are currently accepting submissions for experimental short films and video art, addressing the notion of place attachment.
Maximum 30:00 minutes length with credits
We accept applications from filmmakers and video artists from the Arab world/diaspora
There is no age limit, however, we encourage applications from emerging and recent graduates
Submission Requirements: - One high res film still image - One PDF file that includes:
The applicant’s full name and contact details,
Title of the film/video, country, length, a short synopsis (max. 100 words),
Preview link of the full film/video.
- Please submit full application by email to email@example.com.
Resolution: H.246 or Apple ProRes
